PAULINE BARBIER

My name is Pauline and I am a french multidisciplinary designer.

Growing up in Reunion Island and then in south west of France, I have always been in between ocean, moutains and forests, where my interest for the ‘natural world’ grew. 

​

Given the chance to study in Paris, Glasgow, Cologne and Stockholm, has enable me to 
pick up a range of skills from social design strategy to more product or material based concepts as well as to learn and get inspired from different methodologies and by various cultures to develop my own identity as a designer.

In between Art and Design, my approach is often conceptual and tends to provoke discussion and raise questions about contemporary social and environmental issues through diverse media.The way I explore projects, is usually experimental and hands on which usually leads to a thinking through making process. 

In my practice, I am concerned about interdisciplinary exchange and believe in the collaboration between art, design, science and philosophy toward accessible, inclusive and sharable knowledges.

With a particular interest in the interaction between the human body and its environment,  whether through product design, material experimentation (textile, natural element, waste…), craft, photography, films, or illustrations, I imagine alternative scenarios that act as catalysts for change.
